My first fursuit project 3
Next up was to construct the body.  This was fairly straight-forward sewing.  I did not have a pattern to use, so from the waist down, I used a pair of pants as a pattern.  From there up, I just "winged it".

Here is the belly piece cut out of white fur.  Being that this is supposed to be a Lady fox, she has breasts, although they are a bit small and hard to see.  That is a scheduled improvement!

I did not take many pictures of constructing the body since it was fairly straight forward sewing.  I did place a zipper down each side of the belly piece for getting in and out instead of one zipper in the back.  This allows me to remove the belly piece to put in say, a male chest, or a different color.

Here is the tail all sewn up and flat as a pancake.

what do you do with all those foam scraps from carving the head?  Why, you snip them up into small pieces and stuff the tail with them of course!  I filled up a five gallon bucket full to stuff this tail.

The tail, all stuffed.

Here is one of the feet. It is really just a cylinder of fur that is large enough to go over the boots that I wore, and there is an small extension sewn on the front to cover the toe of the boot.

This view shows the bottom of the boot with the fur safety pinned under the arch so that the fur does not ride up. Sometimes simple if good enough!

Here is one of the paws, again, extremely simple. It is just a fur mitten with a hole in the side to get my thumb out.  The white satin gloves are so that no flesh color shows when I do!

And here is one of the paws over my hand, with my thumb tucked inside.

And here is with my thumb out.

And here I have both my thumb and index finger out of the mitten.  This was very handy for taking pictures so that my index finger was free to use the camera controls.

The mitten was safety pinned to the glove so that I could pull the mitten off if needed and not have to worry about it disappearing on me.  I originally sewed it on, but the gloves got extremely sweaty and needed a good soaking between wearings, so I cut the threads and went to safety pins.

Here is something that I did not mention about the tail in the above pictures.  It is NOT fastened to the fursuit at all.  It has a flat cloth ribbon with a quick latch to fasten it around my waist.  This both allows it to be worn separately from the suit, and also prevents damaging the suit if the tail should get pulled.  You would think that at a furry convention people would know better than to pull on your tail, but remember, there are mundanes in the hotel also, as well as an occasional furry idiot, and so YES, it did get pulled a few times!

And here is a picture from inside the fursuit showing the tail poked through the hole in the back ready to be fastened around the waist.  The hole in the back of the fursuit is just a simple slit and the ends are bound up with black thread so that it will not split any further past this point.  Once the tail was pushed through the hole, the seam is very hard to even see.

Next, the final results.
